DOGGY - To me Doggy is the soul of The Silver Lining. He is the spiritual center; pure love and goodness without an ounce of selfishness. The drawing on top is a very early drawing of him, it was designed for Tim Warner: A life in the clouds as a coffee mug design. The Presidential ads were created during the second Bush election and the final is a button that I sell of the happy little guy. If you want a pin message me with your address and I’ll send you one.
I miss drawing these guys so much! it’s almost a year ago that I decided to take a semester off from grad school and wound up writing and drawing a daily comic strip with the extra time. Best decision I ever made. I have a few weeks worth plotted but not much time to finish them. More comics coming (someday…) soon, thanks to anyone who’s been following Ted and the gang!
DVD cover design for TIM WARNER: A LIFE IN THE CLOUDS (2004) - The Silver Lining comic strip and Tim Warner as a character began in this short film.
It screened at the NYC Village Voice Film Festival, New York’s Anthology Film Archives and The Antagonist Art Movement. In 2005 a low budget film director, who had recently worked with William Atherton, mentioned he’d like to approach him about a remake with him as the star. I still want to see that happen.
Our true claim to fame with this though is the presence of Sam Brown of The Whitest Kid’s U Know co starring in the film as “Brian”. The Whitest Kids are a great bunch of guys to hang out with, tons of fun, super cool and f-ing hilarious.
Tim Warner: a life in the clouds, is where The Silver Lining began. A 30 min short film thesis project. I wound up playing the lead, co writing and providing the artwork. This is a mock up for a never completed after effects credit sequence.
Or if you are feeling freaked out cranky depressed and/or mean I suggest you read Tim Warner’s opus SILVER HELLhttp://silverhell.com/strips/?p=17. It’s a concept comic strip collection aimed at documenting the process of ignoring your own pain and the inevitable outcome of such an act. Think of it as ZIGGY meets the Shining, or hell, think of Britney Spears' meltdown. It's the same idea. Morrissey may have said it best with “the more you ignore me the closer I get”. Because it’s true, he/she who ignores their pain, or anything, will have it grow to an unimaginable size and will soon be crushed by it like the foot of Godzilla. If you’ve ever seen Bambi vs. Godzilla that is what your pain will do to you, post haste.
The Silver Lining pretend graffiti phantasy. One day some cool graffiti kids will plaster my babies all over NYC. I’m not endorsing somebody does this, just enjoying pretending. I’m all about cultural impact!
I’m in BEST MAN HOLIDAY!!! Look at #3, hilarious! This is courtesy of a friend who worked on the movie. The book is SILVER HELL, my first published work which I draw as Tim Warner but am credited here as me: James Jajac. Obviously this list does not represent reality and was created solely for the movie but still, super cool and fun as hell.
