DOGGY-MANIA!!! I had so much fun drawing this. It was bliss! I worked hard on trying to find a nice color balance (my graphic designer wife approves). I’m hoping to publish some new comic strips in the next few weeks. I have four drawn and inked. So, more coming soon, thanks for checking it out and—-Doggy Loves you!

Today is a very special day here at The Looky Empire, gang. One of my all-time favorite artists, James Jajac, has blessed my life by drawing a guest comic of my character Drool. James draws (under the name Tim Warner) what I think is the best webcomic out there: The Silver Lining. You can check out his amazing comic strips here and here.

This is a guest piece by me for friend David Hatch. Check out his comic strips if you have not already at thelookyempire! I adore his character DROOL, pictured here. I am inspired by him in the same way I am the Addams family. He is a solidly conceived character who just gets in your head. I didn’t even need to think, because this is what DROOL would do as a hobby. Sit on a cactus in a desert killing vultures, which attracts more vultures, it’s kind of the perfect hobby. THE LOOKY EMPIRE is the best, funny, odd, beautifully designed and often fantastically weird. <3 <3 <3

SQUIGGLES MANIA! This was supposed to be a quick fun way to get back in the rhythm of drawing The Silver Lining but good gumdrops, the technical problems!! It took forever! It was madness! But it served it’s purpose, slowly but surely the silver lining lives.
Squiggles says MEOW.

TED MANIA! It’s been a while so I’m trying to get back in the groove with The Silver Lining. This was fun. Viva Summer!

The Silver Lining Poster Collaboration with David Tea #1. He draws a fantastically whimsical indie comic called Five Perennial Virtues. This image was based on a idea by David, basing it on the tarot card ‘the fool' in which a man walks toward a cliff and his loyal dog draws him back from certain doom. Fitting the symbolism of the Strip aloof Squiggles draws him closer to the edge while loving Doggy pulls him away. I hoping to do a color draft of this.

David Hatch of the LOOKY EMPIRE (http://thelookyempire.com/archive) was kind enough to do a couple of drawings of my The Silver Lining gang. I am honored and beyond thrilled. He is a talented cartoonist with a unique vision. Follow his work, you won’t regret it!

From the archives, The Silver Lining (2003). Back then it was meant to be more satirical, even mocking of “happy comic strips”. I feel even as a parody I couldn’t hide the love I have for comics strips in general and the characters Squiggles, Doggy, and Ted.

Aprils Fools Day with TED can be misleading. Poor SQUIGGLES and DOGGY! :(
The one year and one day anniversary of relaunch of The Silver Lining! Happy April Fools Day!
